The Ministry of National Education published the 2023 Transition to Secondary Education Preference and Placement Guide. Accordingly, the selection process for secondary education institutions to be made within the scope of the High School Transition System (LGS) will be made between 3-19 July.

How will the central placement be done?
central placement; Science high schools, social sciences high schools, project schools, and vocational and technical Anatolian high schools that accept students by central exam will be made in line with the preferences according to the central exam score superiority to the Anatolian technical programs. Students will be able to choose up to 10 schools from the list of schools that accept students by exam.
Placement will be made in the determined quotas of the schools that accept students through the central examination, in line with the preferences according to the score superiority.

In the case of equality of central exam scores in schools that admit students by examination, the superiority of the School Achievement Score (OBP), the Year-end Achievement Score (YBP) in the 8th, 7th and 6th grades, the low number of unexcused absences in the 8th grade, the preference priority and Placement will be made based on the student who is younger than the date of birth of the student.


How will local placement be done?
local placement procedures; According to the type, quota and location of the schools, the schools in the secondary education registration areas created by the provincial and district national education directorates will be made according to the criteria of the residence addresses of the students, the superiority of the school success score and the low number of days without excuse.


In case of equality in the evaluation, placement will be made based on the superiority of the end-of-year success points in the 8th, 7th and 6th grades, respectively.



All students will choose local placement
All students, including those who take the exam and have a central exam score, must choose a school that accepts students by local placement. If no preference is made on the screen of the schools that accept students with local placement, the schools that admit students through the central exam and the schools with hostels will not be opened.
Students who have completed the final enrollment process in private secondary education institutions and schools that accept students with aptitude test will not be able to choose.

Students; Students will be able to choose in three groups: schools that accept students with a central exam score, schools that accept students with local placement, and schools with boarding houses.


Students who do not take the central exam will be able to choose between two groups: schools that accept students with local placement and schools with boarding houses.

The first screen will be opened for local placement
. Students will first be able to choose from the screen of schools that accept students with local placement. Students will be able to choose a maximum of 5 schools, provided that they choose the first 3 schools from the registration area in their local placement preferences.


In the preferences, a maximum of 3 schools from the same school type (Anatolian high school, vocational and technical Anatolian high school, Anatolian imam hatip high school) can be selected.



Students who make their preferences for schools that accept students through local placement; If they want, they will be able to choose 20 schools in total, with a maximum of 10 from the screen of schools that admit students through the central examination, and a maximum of 5 from the preference screen of schools with hostels.

The "green" color on the local placement preference screen indicates the schools in the registration area where the residence address for the student is; "blue" indicates schools located in the adjacent enrollment area; The "red" color will indicate the other registration areas within the province and the schools located in the registration areas outside the province.

Transfers will last two terms
As last year, transfers based on LGS placements will be made in two terms this year. In both terms, a maximum of 3 schools can be chosen for schools that accept students with a central exam score, a maximum of 3 schools for schools that accept students with local placement, and a maximum of 3 schools for boarding schools.
Students who prefer schools that accept students by local placement and are placed in their first placement will not be obliged to choose a school or different type from the registration area during the transfer preference periods as the basis for placement, but students who cannot be placed in their preferences will choose a maximum of 3 schools, provided that they choose the first 2 schools from the registration area in their transfer preferences. can be found. In the preferences made, a maximum of 2 schools from the same school type can be selected.

Positive discrimination for earthquake victims
Within the scope of emergency; Due to the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes that took place on February 6, 2023, students enrolled in 8th grades on February 5, 2023 in the 2022-2023 academic year only in Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Malatya and Gaziantep's Nurdağı and İslahiye districts;


Schools that accept students with local placement will be able to choose according to the existing secondary education enrollment areas in the provinces where they have completed the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition, all of the schools that accept students with local placement in other provinces other than these provinces will be able to choose "registration area".

Students who have chosen to be placed in schools that accept students with local placement during their preference periods but cannot be placed in any school, apply to the Provincial/District Student Placement and Transfer Commissions, regardless of whether there is a quota in the schools that accept students with local placement, the placement procedures will be completed by considering the balance of the school and branch.



For students who have chosen to place students in schools that accept students by central examination during the preference period, an additional quota of 2 for every 30 quota will be given. Placement procedures for additional quotas will be made according to the priority of points and preference within the framework of central placement principles. Additional quota will not be used in transfers based on placement (1st and 2nd transfer) and in all subsequent transfers.

Results will be announced on 24 July
According to the Preference and Placement Calendar for Secondary Education Institutions, the registration procedures of private secondary education institutions and the procedures and registration of schools that admit students through aptitude test will take place between 26 June-19 July.

Students who complete the registration process in private education institutions will not open the preference screen. Students will be able to choose if they cancel their registration within the preference period.

Placement results and vacant quotas will be announced on 24 July at "meb.gov.tr".

With the central exam score, the most students will be placed in Anatolian high schools.
Students will be placed in 2,492 high schools across Turkey based on their central exam score.


In this context, a total of 206,414 students will be admitted to the schools that accept students through the exam. 71 thousand 22 quotas were allocated to Anatolian high schools, 40 thousand 470 quotas for science high schools, 10 thousand 740 quotas for social sciences high schools, 42 thousand 356 quotas for Anatolian imam hatip high schools, 41 thousand 826 quotas for vocational and technical Anatolian high schools.








MINISTER OF NATIONAL EDUCATION YUSUF TEKIN VISITED ERZURUM

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin visited the Governor's Office as part of the Erzurum program. Stating that he made his first visit to the disaster area, Tekin said that the education environments in all provinces in the region will be at a minimum 10-15 percent better than the period before 6 February in terms of both human resources and physical capacity.

After his visit to the Erzurum Governorship, Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin reminded that they made their first trips after being appointed as the Minister of National Education to the regions affected by the earthquakes, defined as the "disaster of the century", in order to meet their education and training needs.

Explaining that with the intense support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, they have created an environment where the education and training process will start in a healthy way as of the beginning of September in the region, and said, "When our planned permanent investments are completed in terms of the number of classrooms, education environments in all provinces in the earthquake region will be evaluated on February 6th in terms of both human resources and physical capacity. It will be at a minimum 10-15 percent better point than the previous process." he said.

Emphasizing that he made his first visit to Erzurum after the provinces in the disaster area, Minister Tekin noted that Erzurum is one of the cornerstones of Anatolia in terms of both the Turkish-Islamic state tradition and its contribution to the War of Independence in this geography.
